Indian Football: Club Format

The Indian National Football League (NFL) is a football league system in India run by the All India Football Federation.
The NFL has 3 divisions -
1.the Premier Division (created in the 1996/1997 season),
2.the Second Division (created in the 1997/1998 season), and the newly created 3.Third Division (created in the 2006/2007 season). (Amity United plays in the Third division NFL)
Each year, two teams are relegated and replaced by promoted teams.
Other than these there are inter-state competitions.
The Premier Division currently sponsored by ONGC has the following teams:
1. Mahindra United - Mumbai, Maharashtra
2. East Bengal Club - Kolkata, West Bengal
3. Dempo Sports Club - Goa
4. Sporting Clube de Goa - Goa
5. JCT FC - Phagwara, Punjab
6. Mohun Bagan Athletic Club - Kolkata, West Bengal
7. Mohammedan Sporting Club - Kolkata, West Bengal
8. Air India - Mumbai, Maharashtra
9. Churchill Brothers Sports Club - Goa
10.Hindustan Aeronautics Limited Sports Club - Bangalore, Karnataka
The games are in a home-away format, that is each team plays 18 games in a season which runs from January-June.
it is mid-season now, each team having played 8-9 games.dempo FC of goa is leading with 20 points in 9 games.
Games to look out for:
if you are in Goa: march 27,28,31
kolkata: march 21,24,25,29,30
Except for these venues matches are also regularly held in mumbai, Ludhiana and bangalore.
